Meta in the enterprise

As of November 5, 2026. Every figure links to its source; company-reported numbers are labeled as such.

Meta is mostly an advertising company, and nearly all of its business AI so far is sold through ads and messaging, not enterprise software contracts. In Q3 2026, advertising brought in $63.1 billion of its $64.6 billion revenue. The non-ad line closest to selling AI to businesses, "Family of Apps other revenue", was $1.1 billion, up 59%, driven mainly by businesses paying for WhatsApp messages and subscriptions (company figures). Meta has said new AI businesses can begin adding revenue in 2027 but has not put a number on enterprise sales.

Its broadest business product is Meta Business Agent, an AI assistant that answers customer chats, recommends products, books appointments and qualifies sales leads on WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram. Meta said in Jun 2026 that more than 1 million businesses had started using it. The agent was free at launch and is now one of more than 50 features in Meta One, its paid subscription across Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp. In 2026 Meta also began selling directly to large companies. It priced its first paid model API (Muse Spark 1.1, at $1.25 per million input tokens and $4.25 per million output tokens) in Jul 2026, and in Sep 2026 it formed the Meta Enterprise Platform under former MongoDB CEO CJ Desai. Its older Llama models remain openly available, including to US federal agencies under a 2025 GSA agreement.

The enterprise push is early and unproven. Meta named no large enterprise customers for its new platform, has not detailed security or contract terms, and has a mixed record in workplace software: it shut down Workplace in May 2026 and Horizon Workrooms in Feb 2026. Futurum's Mitch Ashley warns that customer-service bots and content-generation tools are becoming commodities. What to watch: whether Meta's reach (500 million businesses use its products, it says) turns into paid agent and API revenue in 2027, against Microsoft, Google, OpenAI and Anthropic.
