A blended measure of ecosystem activity across three independent feeds — Hugging Face’s trending downloads, OpenRouter’s total token volume, and Ollama’s total pulls — each read directly from that day’s data collection. The index value is 100 × (1 + average growth across the three feeds), so 100.0 means no net change since the baseline date; the delta is the day-over-day change in that same blended value.
Comparing 2026-10-17 against a baseline of 2026-10-10 — the most recent complete comparison the underlying data supports, which can run slightly longer than 7 days if a day’s collection run failed to gather data (see the breakdown below for exactly what moved).

Why these three feeds
Hugging Face’s trending-tagged downloads, OpenRouter’s token volume, and Ollama’s pull counts each capture a different layer of real, observable AI activity: what the open-model community is actively pulling and testing (Hugging Face), what's actually being served at scale through a usage-based API marketplace (OpenRouter), and what's being run locally by individual developers (Ollama). No single feed is a complete picture of “AI momentum” on its own — a Hugging Face spike can be one viral fine-tune, a token-volume jump can be one model's price cut driving substitution rather than new demand — which is exactly why the index blends all three equally rather than picking one.
Each feed's growth is computed against the most recent prior data collection that actually gathered data (a collection run that failed partway through — a known, recurring failure mode — is skipped rather than treated as a real zero), so the baseline date can occasionally be more than 7 days back if recent runs were incomplete.
