Anthropic
Anthropic in the enterprise
As of November 5, 2026. Every figure links to its source; company-reported numbers are labeled as such.
Anthropic sells its Claude AI to businesses in three ways: workplace subscriptions (Claude Enterprise and Team), its Claude Code tool for writing software, and pay-per-use access for companies building their own products, sold directly and through Amazon, Google and Microsoft's clouds. It is the only leading AI lab whose models are offered on all three major clouds. Its business has grown faster than any rival's: annualized revenue rose from about $9 billion at the end of 2025 to $30 billion in April 2026 and more than $65 billion by the end of July, according to Bloomberg. Reuters put its Q2 2026 revenue at $11.5 billion, versus $6.7 billion for OpenAI.
Big companies are paying the most. By Anthropic's own figures, more than 1,000 customers were spending over $1 million a year by April 2026, double the count in February, and eight of the Fortune 10 use Claude. Coding is the engine: Claude Code alone passed $2.5 billion in annualized revenue in February, with more than half coming from businesses. Anthropic is also using the big consulting and IT-services firms as a sales force. Deloitte (470,000 staff), PwC, TCS and Fujitsu are rolling Claude out internally and reselling it to clients. A $1.5 billion services venture with Blackstone, Hellman & Friedman and Goldman Sachs takes Claude to companies owned by private equity firms. To keep up with demand, it has signed compute deals: $30 billion of capacity on Microsoft Azure, and about 3.5 gigawatts of Google chips arriving from 2027.
The weak spot is defense. In February 2026 the Pentagon labeled Anthropic a "supply chain risk" after it refused to drop limits on surveillance and autonomous-weapons uses. A federal appeals court upheld the label in September, so the Defense Department and its contractors cannot use Claude for defense work. The rest of the federal government is not barred. What to watch: whether this hits government-adjacent sales, and competition from OpenAI for the same big accounts. Samsung, for example, now runs Claude alongside ChatGPT and Google's Gemini. Also watch Anthropic's plans for a public listing, which reporting says is fueled by Claude Code growth.
